This policy is designed to promote the safety of both pedestrians and to affirm Dartmouth's commitment to comply with Hanover and New Hampshire bicycle safety regulations.
All Independent Contractors (IC) and third-party vendors must comply with all Dartmouth College W-9 and Independent Contractor forms, compliances, and regulations. Additional restrictions apply if hiring an IC within the Campus Services division.
Due to limited parking resources for employees and visitors on campus, senior leadership wants to limit the impact of the loss of parking. Additionally, no matter how large or small the construction project, extensive communication to impacted parking users is required. This policy aims to create clarity for all internal project managers.
It is important that project planning mitigates the potential for permanent parking space loss throughout planning and building phases. However, it is understood that even after careful vetting of options, sometimes losing parking spaces may be the best option for Dartmouth.

Because of this, a funding mechanism is essential for projects to pay for lost parking spaces, with the resulting funds earmarked toward construction of new parking spaces to replace those lost and lot improvements.
A capital project must pay for the cost of any permanently lost parking spaces as a result of campus development.
