Sugarwood Circle

About the Project

As part of President Sian Leah Beilock's commitment to add 1,000 beds for faculty, staff, and students in the next 10 years, Dartmouth is financing a $15.2 million housing development south of campus in West Lebanon, N.H., for Dartmouth employees. The 21-unit development will feature 14 two-story, three-bedroom homes; three duplexes with a total of five three-bedroom units and one two-bedroom unit; and one single-story, three-bedroom home designed for accessibility. The project is located off Route 10 on five acres off of Oak Ridge Road, and all units will include a single-car garage.

Project Goals

  • Help meet pressing housing needs in the Upper Valley.

  • Improve Dartmouth's ability to attract and retain the best faculty and staff by creating high-quality housing for employees close to campus.

  • Control costs, ensure energy efficiency, and accelerate the building process by utilizing a modular construction model.

Project Timing

  • Sugarwood Circle has begun to look like a vibrant subdivision.  The sidewalk is now installed that will bring future residents to Route 10 and the AT bus route.  Wonderful to see school children already using it this week.
  • The seventh home was delivered and will be made weather-tight by Huntington Homes the week of September 8th.
  • The eighth home will be delivered and placed onto the foundation in early November.
  • The project is expected to run through June/July of 2026 for the completion of the 21 units.

What's Currently Happening

  • All Foundations have been poured and are ready to receive homes.  This was vital to be completed before winter conditions arise.
  • Garage delivery has continued and only three garages remain to be delivered.
  • Power and gas connections are completed for the first 4 homes.
  • Siding installation and flooring is completed for the first four homes.  Interiors are being finished with railings and hardware installation continuing this month.
  • The base coat of paving is being scheduled for mid-November before the asphalt plants close for the season.  This is a key milestone for the project.
  • The current schedule has all structures on the site by April 2026.
  • Initial occupancy through rental from the Dartmouth Real Estate Office will begin in January 2026.
