Berry Sports Center

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Berry Sports Center is the home of Dartmouth College's Varsity Basketball, Volleyball, and Squash teams. This project at Berry Sports Center incorporates both architectural renovations and energy upgrades as part of the College's Decarbonization Program.

This project will result in Volleyball having a dedicated locker room along with Volleyball offices and a team room in close proximity to Leede Arena. Men's and Women's Squash will have dedicated locker rooms and a team room located adjacent to the squash courts.

The hot water conversion work will convert the building's heating system from low-pressure steam to campus district water. Heating and cooling equipment will be modified or replaced.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Create dedicated team spaces for Volleyball and Squash.

  • Co-locate Volleyball and Squash coaches' offices within the teams' facility.

  • Convert the building to hot and chilled water mechanical systems.

PROJECT TIMING

Construction is divided into the following phases:

  • Phase 1, anticipated to start in March of 2025, is comprised of both interior renovations for Volleyball and Squash, as well as installing new mechanical systems to support the hot water conversion. The project is expected to be complete in mid-August 2025.

    • The entire building (including Leede Arena) will be closed from April 2025 – mid-August 2025 due to work on critical systems.
    • The Berry parking lot off South Park Street will be closed for parking from early April – mid-August.
  • Phase 2 involves making the final connections to convert Berry Sports Center to the campus-wide energy system.
