Engineering and Computer Science Center

About the Project

In March 2022, Dartmouth completed construction of the 160,000 gsf Engineering and Computer Science Center (ECSC). In addition to housing faculty in these two academic disciplines, the ECSC is also home to the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, the Dali Lab, and the Electron Microscope Facility. The expanded engineering and computer science programs in this building increase access to faculty through lower student-faculty ratios, expand opportunity for all students to integrate engineering and the liberal arts, and increase research and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Both the ECSC and Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society were considered as part of an integrated West End Master Plan which ensures that each building supports a strategic and sustainable vision for the entire West End. Enabling and improvement projects that support these new west end buildings include construction of a 340-space parking lot below the ECSC and extension of electrial and chilled/hot water utilities from the north to the west end of campus. The new building was funded wholly from philanthropy.

Designed and constructed as one of Dartmouth's top high-performance buildings, the ECSC will be considered for LEED platinum certification.
