Dartmouth to Offer Dining Services Over the Winter Break

The Courtyard Cafe and '53 Commons will be open daily with takeout available on holidays.

Dartmouth is piloting a program to make dining services available to all Dartmouth community members over the winter break, from Nov. 28 through Jan. 1.

Dine-in meals will be offered from Dec. 2 through Dec. 19. The Courtyard Cafe at the Hopkins Center for the Arts will offer a la carte items from 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day over the break, and '53 Commons will be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the weeks of Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Cash and DASH-card swipes will be accepted for all meals. As a part of the pilot, financial assistance will be available for eligible undergraduates.

Takeout service will be available when the cafe and '53 Commons are closed, Nov. 28 though Dec. 1, and Dec. 20 though Jan. 1. All takeout orders must be reserved in advance by Nov. 19.

"This is the first time Dartmouth Dining Services has offered meals over the winter break," says David Newlove, associate vice president of business and hospitality, which includes dining services. "We are pleased to support the College in this important initiative and hope that we have a good number of participants in the pilot so we can continue to improve the program and serve the campus community in the years to come."

In order to get a clear picture of how many people might participate and what options would work best, dining services is asking students and community members who want meals over break to fill out an online survey. The survey needs to be filled out by Nov. 19.

"This is a very exciting program. We're looking forward to continuing to cook for the campus community during the December break," Newlove says.
