Steve Moore has been named interim vice president of campus services.
Vice President of Campus Services Lisa Hogarty is leaving Dartmouth to join Boston Children’s Hospital as senior vice president of real estate planning and development.
Steve Moore, who recently joined the College as vice president for institutional projects, has been named interim vice president of campus services, effective Oct. 1.
“Lisa has made remarkable contributions to Dartmouth in her time with us,” says Executive Vice President Rick Mills. “I am sorry to see her go, but I am delighted that she is taking her talents to Boston to support the academic mission of this remarkable pediatric teaching hospital.”
Hogarty has played a critical role in launching and furthering several major projects at Dartmouth. These include, among others, overseeing the renovation and expansion of the Hood Museum of Art, currently underway; the conceptual planning for development of the west end of campus; and the implementation of the College’s new house community residential system. She also co-chaired the Sustainability Task Force, a group President Phil Hanlon ’77 has charged with identifying institution-wide targets to improve efficiency, conservation, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Moore brings extensive experience in campus planning to continue these and other projects, says Mills. “Steve’s background makes him well-suited to this interim role, and we are fortunate to have him as a resource.”
Moore comes to Dartmouth from Babson College, in Wellesley, Mass., where he served as the president’s chief of staff and vice president of strategic initiatives. He joined Babson after a 10-year stint at Milton Academy, an independent boarding school in Milton, Mass., where he was director of administration and counsel, and later chief financial and operating officer and general counsel.
At Milton he oversaw a comprehensive campus master planning process that has been incorporated into the school’s current capital campaign, as well as the design and construction of a 40,000-square-foot Silver LEED-equivalent science center—and led efforts that significantly reduced the school’s carbon footprint. In addition to managing residence halls, dining, and a real estate portfolio of more than 100 faculty homes, he worked closely with academic, administrative, and philanthropic leadership and had primary internal responsibility for five trustee committees, including the committee responsible for buildings and grounds.
Moore earned his bachelor’s degree from Bates College and his JD from Case Western Reserve University of Law. He began his legal career as general counsel and director of out-of-state legal affairs for the equipment-leasing firm MicroFinancial, Inc., overseeing that startup’s growth cycle through an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
