Energy Transition

Construction projects supporting Dartmouth's decarbonization efforts are resuming. Key areas will include regions surrounding E. Wheelock Street and Fayerweather. Construction will start soon on the Tunnel under the Green, Reed and Bartlett halls, and Floren Varsity and Leverone Field houses south of Memorial Field.

Energy Transition (formerly Decarbonization in Progress)

Construction projects are underway to support the decarbonization initiative of the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative—a $500 million effort with the goal of reducing campus emissions by 60% by 2030 and 100% by 2050.

Over the past year, distribution piping to carry water has been installed in several locations across campus, including regions surrounding E. Wheelock Street and Fayerweather, the Tunnel under the Green, Reed and Bartlett halls, and Floren Varsity and Leverone Field houses south of Memorial Field.

Beginning June 18, Crosby Street was closed to motor vehicles, so we can install an underground distribution piping vault as part of its conversion from steam to a more efficient hot water distribution system for campus heating and cooling. The piping vault under Crosby Street will serve as a key connection point for these pipes. The project is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
