Indoor Practice Facility

About the Project

Designed to significantly improve training conditions for inter-collegiate athletes, club sports, and other recreational activities, Dartmouth College is pursuing the construction of an Indoor Practice Facility. As the northernmost Ivy League school, Dartmouth faces unique training and recruiting challenges due to a shortage of indoor practice space. A new Indoor Practice Facility will dramatically enhance training for several varsity athletic programs including football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball and softball, no matter what the weather is outside.

The proposed new facility will be located on the “Sunken Garden” site, directly east of the Boss Tennis Center. The primary goals of the practice facility are to:

  • Facilitate student-athlete access with an on-campus location
  • Maximize field space while staying within Town zoning restrictions
  • Include essential support spaces
  • Minimize other amenities to contain total project costs (i.e. no air conditioning)
