Dana Hall Renovation

About the Project

Dana Hall, former home to the biomedical library, will undergo extensive renovations to provide space for faculty offices and workspaces, teaching and conference spaces, a graduate student lounge, and a small grab-and-go café with an informal lounge/seating area and outdoor terrace. The renovations will include replacement of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and will include a broad array of sustainability and high-performance building features. The project is anticipated to receive LEED Gold certification.

Adjacent to Dana was Gilman Hall, a building that was vacant since 2010 and deemed unsuitable for occupancy; its demolition was complete in May, 2018. Once the renovation of Dana is complete, sitework on the former Gilman site and around Dana will include much-improved pedestrian access from the central campus to the north end, including a pedestrian bridge spanning the sunken lawn on the west side of Dana. Parking will also be added to support approximately 60 new spaces, and will connect to the Maynard parking lot.
