About the Project
Several floors in the Blunt Alumni Center are being renovated to develop new academic space for Sociology, the Ethics Institute, and the Rassias Center. In addition, a 34-student classroom will be created, two seminar spaces will be renovated, and a covered exterior entrance to Blunt’s garden level will be constructed to improve access to this space. The movement of these academic offices into Blunt will allow for much-needed expansion in Silsby and Sudikoff for growth and de-crowding of Economics, Government and Computer Science.
A construction fence will be in place on the north and west side of Blunt. In the summer, a trench will be dug across Tuck Mall to connect chilled water lines between Blunt and Silsby. At the beginning of the project, several trees and shrubs will be removed to support the movement of construction vehicles and fencing. Once the renovation is complete, similar trees and landscaping will be replaced.
Employees who work in nearby buildings, and students who live in nearby residence halls can expect the following:
- Interior demolition and construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with loud work limited to 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- There will be minimal use of construction vehicles, other than a dumpster to remove demolition materials in March and April.
